Annual Family Dove Hunt 2015 {Haskell, Texas}
Every year family members on my father's side gather in Haskell, Texas, for the opening weekend of dove hunting season. It's part dove hunting, part family reunion. It's a time for us to come together and laugh, eat, sing songs, and relax. Family members gather from all over to reunite and bond with each other again. The central-hub is the house of my great aunt Dorthy. Her house has been in the family for over 65 years, built by my great grandfather.
It's really something special, this trip. It's always fun and uplifting to head out to the country and throw the old wrist watch in the river for a few days.
Central Texas - the open plains
I have been making this drive since I was a little boy. It is one of my favorite parts about making this trip every year or so. The views are so gorgeous, and really show of the beauty of the Texas landscape and our wide open skies. Haskell is around 3.5 hrs from front door.
Brothers
A couple of old farmer brothers, sharing a meal. This table has seen a lot of elbows, and dominos, in it's time!
